Compared to its predecessor, the new edition has grown by 97 millimeters in length to 5,060 millimeters, in width by 32 millimeters to 1,900 millimeters, and in height by 36 millimeters to 1,515 millimeters. Its wheelbase was extended by 20 millimeters to 2,995 millimeters.
The dynamic character of the new BMW Series 5 Sedan can be further enhanced with the M Sport package, the M Sport Pro package, and the M Carbon exterior package. The paint range already includes three BMW Individual finishes at market launch.

The highlight of the range is the Driving Assistant Professional, which includes lane direction assistance and lane control along with distance control featuring a Stop & Go function. In a world-first, the system in the new BMW Series 5 now also incorporates Active Lane Change Assistant with eye confirmation. This comfort feature achieves a new level of driver-vehicle interaction. The vehicle suggests a lane change, and for the first time, it can be executed by just glancing at the external mirror to confirm the lane change. The Active Lane Change Assistant then automatically performs the necessary steering movements, provided the traffic situation allows.
