Let’s show our big heart
“I am strong enough to make others believe in their dreams again.” These are the words of Yusra Mardini, a swimmer from the Refugee Olympic Team and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador. Yusra and her sister helped save the lives of fellow refugees when their boat began to sink while crossing the Aegean Sea. They swam for hours, pushing the boat to safety and ultimately reaching the shores of Greece. Yusra’s journey, like the many refugees, symbolizes the ability to overcome adversity with courage and determination, and became an example of solidarity.
Following her example, UNHCR invites you to join the Chisinau Big Hearts Marathon 2023 and celebrate the inspiring people in our lives.
